Family Apostolate
Our Family Apostolate
In the Catholic understanding of family life, father and mother are called to be the first apostles within the home — witnesses of Christ’s love to their children and to one another. Through their daily sacrifices, faithful prayer, and steadfast commitment, they reflect the self-giving love of Christ and His Church.
A father, guided by faith, is called to lead with humility, integrity, and spiritual strength — protecting, providing, and nurturing the moral and spiritual well-being of his family. A mother, rooted in love and devotion, embodies compassion, patience, and steadfast care, forming the heart of the domestic church through prayer and example. Together, father and mother serve as Family Apostles by:
Teaching the faith through word and example
Leading family prayer and participation in the Sacraments
Modeling forgiveness, charity, and unity
Raising their children in truth, virtue, and love
In living out their vocation faithfully, parents become living witnesses of the Gospel, building a home where Christ dwells and where faith is not only taught, but joyfully lived.
Mathruvedhi
Welcome to the Mathruvedhi of our parish. Rooted in the heart of the Syro-Malabar tradition, our Mothers’ Forum is more than just an organization; it is a spiritual sisterhood. Inspired by the humble “Yes” of our Blessed Mother Mary, we strive to be the spiritual backbone of our families and the hands of service within our church.
Whether we are gathering in prayer, supporting parish activities, or reaching out to those in need, our mission remains the same: to nurture the next generation in Christ’s love and to keep the flame of faith burning bright in every domestic church.Â
One of the past initiatives of Mathruvedhi include the collective efforts of our mothers and the generosity of our parishioners, which have successfully raised funds through our annual Christmas Cake Sale to support the purchase of the new Mission House in previous years.

Pithruvedhi
In the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church, the Pithruvedhi is the official organization for the fathers of the parish. It is a spiritual and social platform designed to empower men to lead their families with faith, integrity, and sacrificial love. While the Mathruvedhi is often seen as the “light” of the home, the Pithruvedhi is viewed as its “strong foundation.” Its mission is to help fathers embrace their role as the primary spiritual leaders of their households, mirroring the guardianship of St. Joseph, who is their patron saint.
They work in close coordination with the Parish Priest to ensure the smooth administration of the church. Their presence ensures that the traditions of the Syro-Malabar faith are passed down to sons and daughters through the strong example of fatherhood
Join Us:
We invite all fathers and male adults of the St. Alphonsa Syro-Malabar Parish to join us in this journey of faith, fellowship, and service. Together, we can initiate and organize events and talks that would help in the spiritual formation of our parish and thereby the new generation.
