SMYM is the official youth wing of the Syro-Malabar Church, focused on the holistic development of young people through three main pillars: Participation, Pastoral Action, and Mission. It provides a platform for youth to engage in leadership, social service, and spiritual growth, both within the parish and in the wider world. SMYM –  Canada was officially inaugurated on  October  1,  2016,  by Bishop  Mar  Jose  Kalluvelil,  in the presence of  His  Excellency  Luigi Bonazzi,  Apostolic  Nuncio to Canada.  The members of the youth movement range from the ages of 14  to  30. It follows the tradition and beliefs of the  Syro-Malabar  Church for the  Kingdom of God and Society.  Over the years,  the youth movement has hosted various  programmers and activities,  such as camps, picnics, retreats, leadership training, and conferences at different locations, for the holistic development of youth, aligning its members with the religious and social causes of the Church. Our SMYM unit connects with both the national and international SMYM network, offering a platform for young people to deepen their faith, develop their leadership skills, and engage in meaningful service.

Our Activities:

Spiritual Gatherings: We organize retreats, prayer meetings, and faith-sharing sessions to nurture the spiritual growth of our members.

Leadership Training: We provide workshops and training programs to equip young people with the skills and knowledge they need to become effective leaders.

Social Events: We host social gatherings and outings to foster friendship and build community among our members.

Service Projects: We participate in various service projects, addressing social needs and making a positive impact on the lives of others.

National and International Conferences: We encourage our members to participate in SMYM conferences and events at the national and international levels, broadening their horizons and connecting with young people from diverse backgrounds.
